Dreamgirls

Why see Dreamgirls?

the ultimate theatrical experience!

Don't miss this musical biopic based on the story of The Supremes. First hitting the Broadway stage in 1981, in 2005 it enjoyed an adaptation to the big screen starring Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, and Anika Noni-Rose, before opening in London to rave reviews in 2016. Now heading out on a UK tour, this is your your chance to enjoy this dazzling musical that includes showstoppers, 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going, Listen, I Am Changing and One Night Only.'

With a powerful score and thought-provoking story, glittering sets and costumes, Dreamgirls is the ultimate theatrical experience. Expect to be on your feet at some of the powerhouse performances, we promise you - you're gonna love it!

What is it about?

Hopeful talents Deena Jones, Lorrell Robinson, and Effie White are performing as "The Dreamettes" when ambitious agent Curtis Taylor, Jr. discovers them. After quickly landing them a job as backup singers for the soul and rock 'n roll sensation James "Thunder" Early he begins to guide their quickly rising career, and dictates their every move. However, when the beautiful Deena emerges as the star of the group rather than the full-voiced Effie, the girls' rivalry leads to a personal and professional crossroads for the trio.

Dreamgirls has touched audiences all the way from 1980s Broadway to 21st century Hollywood, introducing some legendary breakthrough performances along the way.

Perfection

The show itself was amazing can't fault it and would definitely go back to see it again However the staff at the King's theatre asked a guy in the row in front of us to stop singing along which we found to be shocking as he was only singing quietly along, my daughter was sat 2 rows in front and didn't even hear him plus most of the theatre were singing along at some points Then the guy was taken outside to speak to the manager who then said this production had asked for no singing along This put a complete damper on our night for sure ...
